Privacy policy
[DRAFT — pending legal review] · Last updated 12 June 2026
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is the operator of Chasseur, identified in the legal notice. For any privacy question or request, write to privacy@chasseurcars.com.
2. What we collect
Account data — name, email address, password (stored only as a hash by our authentication provider), and for finders, application details such as region and specialism.
Search and submission data — the vehicle you are looking for, your budget, sourcing locations, reference images you upload, and for finders, the vehicles, photos, and prices you submit.
Payment data — deposits are processed by Stripe; Chasseur never sees or stores your card number. We keep a ledger of deposit and fee events (amounts, references, timestamps).
Messages and logs — messages exchanged through the platform, introduction logs, email notification records, and standard technical logs.
3. Why we use it
To operate the service you asked for (reviewing posts, matching finders, arranging introductions, processing deposits) — performance of a contract. To send transactional emails about your search or submissions — performance of a contract. To keep the platform safe, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms — legitimate interest. To meet bookkeeping and tax obligations — legal obligation. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. Who sees it
Buyers and finders never see each other's contact details until Chasseur arranges the introduction. Public pages show searches in anonymised form. Our processors: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Stripe (payments), and our email delivery provider. Each processes data on our instructions under GDPR-compliant agreements. Data may be disclosed where the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
Account data for as long as your account exists. Mandate, ledger, and introduction records for the legal retention period applicable to commercial and accounting documents (up to 10 years in France). Messages and uploads until you delete them or your account is closed, subject to those retention duties.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; restriction of or objection to processing; and a portable copy of data you provided. Write to privacy@chasseurcars.com and we will respond within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
7. Cookies
Chasseur uses only the cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in (authentication session cookies). We set no advertising or third-party analytics cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner. If that changes, this policy and the site will be updated first.
8. Changes
We will post any change here and, where the change is material, notify account holders by email.
